Conservation Fair

October 5, 2006

The participants are taken on a trail stopping along the way to learn about forestry, soils, water quality, wildlife, recycling, and agricultural crops. The success of this event is a result of the combined efforts of numerous conservation agencies dedicated to promoting conservation education to our youth. These agencies include: USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, MS Soil and Water Conservation Commission, U.S. Fish and Wildlife, MS Department of Environmental Quality, and the MS Forestry Commission, and the MS Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks, the Madison County Sheriff's Department, Madison Police Department and the Ridgeland Police Department. These agencies teach the children valuable lessons about boating and gun safety and provide demonstrations on the use of K-9 teams.

The Fair was held October 6, 2005 with over 400 fifth grade students and 20 teachers and assistants participating. Schools that attended included: Canton Academy, East Flora Elementary, Luther Branson School, Tri-County Academy, Madison Avenue Upper Elementary, and a group of home schooled students.

We hope to see all of these school and more out for this year's event!
