Envirothon 2006

The Envirothon teams are made of five students that must attend the same high school of education organization and be in grades 9-12. Each team has an advisor that is responsible for helping the teams prepare for the competition through classroom training, field days, and presentations by natural resource experts.

The competition begins at the area level in late March. The top five teams at the Central, North and South area competition advance to the Canon Envirothon with teams competing from the United States and Canada.

Central Area competition is held in late March. In 2005, competition was held at Lake Chautauqua in Copiah County. Three teams represented Madison County. They were two teams from Ridgeland High School and one from Madison Central High School. Eleven other teams from the central part of Mississippi also competed. The top 5 scoring teams advanced to the State Envirothon held in May, 2005 at Roosevelt State Park. Madison County teams won three of the five spots to advance.
